Place culture at the forefront of Union’s agenda

With just a month remaining until nearly 372 million voters cast their ballots in the European Parliament elections, organizations like Culture Action Europe, Europa Nostra, and the European Cultural Foundation are rallying behind the Cultural Deal for Europe campaign. This initiative aims to place culture at the forefront of our Union’s agenda, inviting current and aspiring Members of European Parliament, political parties, policymakers, and citizens alike to recognize its paramount importance.

Why prioritize culture in European policymaking? In an increasingly polarized world, culture serves as a unifying force, bridging divides and facilitating meaningful dialogue. It is through culture that we exchange ideas, inspire one another, and envision the future of our societies. Without a vibrant cultural landscape, the very essence of Europe’s future is at risk.

At the heart of the Cultural Deal for Europe lies a call for comprehensive integration of culture into the EU’s funding programs, sustainable development strategies, global relations, and long-term vision. By acknowledging culture as the beating heart of the European project, we pave the way for a more cohesive and inclusive Union.
