Happy World Ballet Day with Andreea Soare and Ballet Company of the “Opera Comica pentru Copii” theater in Bucharest

“Ballet comes from within and gives it to the audience. The universal code of movement evokes emotion, burning, joy or sorrow. Because ballet means life! Happy Birthday!”, Andreea Soare, ballerina, choreographer, director and Ballet Department Coordinator at “Opera Comica pentru Copii”, Bucharest

Andreea Soare is a former ballet dancer, choreographer, director and Ballet Department Coordinator at “Opera Comica pentru Copii”, Bucharest

When I was very little, by pure chance I felt inside and told my father that I wanted to become a ballerina. There was a moment when, effectively, everything inside of me felt in unison that my purpose is to stand on stage.

Hard and exhausting years followed, with a lot of work, many sacrifices, many disappointments, with hardships, thousands of hours of study, absurd diets, but also with the dawn in which I always believed – that of reaching the stage in the spotlight. The joy of the first step on stage at each performance, the emotion with which you interpret each character, the satisfaction of the applause at the end and the congratulations you receive, make you forget all the hard way to get here.

This is the reason why I ask you, every time you take part in a ballet, at the applause at the end to think, in addition to appreciating the artistic act, about the temporal sacrifice to which the protagonist – the male or female ballerina – is subjected.

Opera Comică pentru Copii is a public cultural institution subordinated to the Capital City Hall and the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest

“Opera Comică pentru Copii” is led since 2014 by the soprano Felicia Filip. Unique in the world in terms of the audience it addresses, the Comic Opera for Children brings the little ones closer to art and culture, both through quality performances – opera, ballet, musicals, lesson-concerts, operetta, musical theater – and through various related innovative projects such as summer and winter festivals, “Little Artist” Workshops, “OCC Store”, “Behind the Curtain” Tours, “Birthday Parties”, “Escape Room”, “Aventura Park” , “Subscriptions” or “Volunteering”.
