With over 150 very special artworks uploaded in the competition platform – most of them with some of the very most known ballerinas from the biggest theaters in Europe, and some of the best photo artists enrolled, the jury has got a very difficult job! It took a lot of time for deliberations but also some great professional debates over the photo’s artistic characteristics.
PROFESSIONAL BALLET PHOTOGRAPHY, 2022 EDITION has helped photographers all over the world not only connect with fellow photography enthusiasts, but to get a very important exposure on the ballet community in the Central and Eastern Europe.

With over 2000 votes counted, over 50.000 accesses to the contest’s web page and hundred thousand interactions on the social media accounts, PROFESSIONAL BALLET PHOTOGRAPHY, 2022 EDITION is most well-known & exclusive Central and East European professional ballet photo project.
Ballet Magazine is proud to present the winners of the PROFESSIONAL BALLET PHOTOGRAPHY, 2022 EDITION, selected by an independent jury, and the coveted title Photographer of the Year! The annual Ballet Magazine PROFESSIONAL BALLET PHOTOGRAPHY rewards today the best ballet visuals from over 150 photos submitted by almost 30 worldwide photography artists, with dozens of famous dancers both locally and internationally.
PROFESSIONAL BALLET PHOTOGRAPHY 2022 EDITION started on November 1 2022 and ended on February 28, 2023. The competition has enrolled photographers from Russia to Western Europe and from Asia & Australia reaching Latin America. Many of the photographers are collaborators both with some of the most famous ballerinas but also with the greatest national or international ballet companies all over the world.

Ballet photography is a highly varied genre of image-making, and through different aesthetic and technical effects represents the act and the art of ballet in poetic, captivating ways. Like any photograph, a dance image isolates a split-second in time, but its specific intention is to convey the idea of movement.
